Cookies & Cream Pocky Cat Cupcakes

Spooks and black cats may soon alight upon your doorstep demanding a Halloween treat. Given the Star Wars revival, Stormtroopers and Princess Leias will also inevitably appear. (Probably a Trump or two, too!)

Want to make the Halloween mini monsters happy? Present Japanese Pocky. Any flavor Pocky in the hands of a trick-or-treater will prompt huge smiles. Maybe even a “May the Force be with you” from the Star Wars gang.

Homemade cupcakes are guaranteed crowd-pleasers also. So, I created Halloween kitty cat cupcakes whose whiskers are Cookies & Cream Pocky. If you celebrate Halloween, you’ll already have the other ingredients such as candy corns and chocolates on hand. Amazon Prime can deliver the candy eyes and Pocky to you. If you have a Japanese market near you, however, I guarantee you won’t have to go online. Pocky is a household name and staple in Japan.

Pocky makes for a perfect flower arrangement,
garnish and Halloween treat!

Just in case you’ve not been properly introduced, Pocky is a classic Japanese treat. Originally slim biscuit sticks were coated only in chocolate. Today every flavor from green tea to sweet potato is available in Pocky form. Its’ cousin, Pejoy is also exponentially expanding in variety and popularity. Pejoy treats are also slim biscuits, but the chocolate, green tea and other delicious flavors are tucked inside.

Pocky Halloween Cupcakes

The cat's meow! Pocky are plain perfect and perfect for garnish. Especially Halloween cat whiskers

Ingredients:

Your favorite vanilla cupcakes
Chocolate frosting
Cookies and Cream Pocky
Candy character eyes
Candy corn
M & Ms

Directions:

Frost cooled vanilla cupcakes with chocolate frosting.
With a sharp knife chop the Pocky into equal sizes for cat whiskers.
Place an M & M in the center of the cupcake for the nose. (I used orange to coordinate with the candy corn. Fan the Pocky bit to form cat whiskers.
Stick on the candy eyes and candy corn ears.
Get ready to see the smiles on your trick-or-treaters' faces!
